Reverend Scott Kiehn ~ retired summer 2024 ~

The Reverend Scott Kiehn has served as the called pastor of First Lutheran Church in Glasgow since June 2021.  He moved to Glasgow from Baker, Montana where he served four years at a three-point parish which included churches in Baker, Ekalaka and Plevna.  Prior to this call, he served for four years at his first call in Sunburst, Montana.

Pastor Scott is originally from Northeastern Minnesota where he worked for over twenty years at Potlatch and SAPPI paper mill in Cloquet, MN.  After discerning a call to ordained ministry, he left his job at the paper mill and began working at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Carlton, MN in a position titled Director of Discipleship.  He worked in this position while attending seminary through the Distributive Learning program.  He also did his internship at Bethesda Lutheran Church.  Pastor Scott received his Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN.  His bachelor’s degree is in Management and was from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN.

Pastor Scott and his wife Peggy were high school sweethearts and have been married almost 40 years.  They have two sons, Fletcher (Christina) and Tucker (Mary) who both live in Duluth, MN as well as their grandson, Sullivan.  They still own property in MN where they return each year to hunt with family in the fall and make maple syrup in the spring.  Pastor Scott enjoys hunting, trapping and fishing.  Peggy and Scott like processing their wild game, picking berries, making maple syrup, cutting wood, camping and generally participating with God’s creation.  They also enjoy the Fort Peck Theater and the school musical productions.

Purpose/Mission of the Teams:
Discipleship Team

The mission of this team is:
1. To develop a commitment among members to reach out to inactive members and non-members in the Glasgow community.
2. To speak and lead, and to respond to human need.  To seek to meet human needs, advocate for dignity and justice, and work for peace and reconciliation among all people.
This ministry of service – which is part of God's mission to the broken world – is essential to the meaning of the church.
Stewardship
To provide and develop an active awareness of biblical stewardship by involving all members' use of their time, talents and treasures.  All members of First Lutheran Council shall be members of the stewardship ministry.
Education and Youth Team
The purpose of this team is to plan, review and oversee the Christian education program for all ages.  It is also to develop a youth program that encourages active participation in worship services, community service and bible study and to organize youth retreats and fundraising activities to provide fellowship opportunities in a variety of environmental settings.
Finance Team
The mission of this committee is to provide for responsible management of all financial assets of the congregation; to prepare an annual budget reflecting realistic receipts and expenditures that support the congregation’s ministries; to strengthen the financial position of the congregation as a whole.
Property Team
The purpose of this committee is to provide continuing maintenance on the buildings and grounds of the church.
Worship and Music Team
The purpose of this team is to provide for and support a meaningful Christian worship experience.  In achieving this goal, the worship and music team offers great potential for lay involvement in the life of the congregation.  This team should engage in the study of the Lutheran worship traditions and their meanings.  This team should provide opportunities to make this information known to the congregation.

please join us for worship, programs and our many ministry opportunities!
